Skin care routine 2k18

I know I’m a little late, but I just want to wish happy holidays to everyone and everything best in new 2k18! Now, I’ve should said this a long time ago , but unfortunately I didn’t , because I fail at everything lol. But for today’s post I’ll share with you my updated skin care routine. I had one of these posts last year I believe, but my routine changed and I found some new amazing products that I would to share with you. Hope you’ll like it and if you have some skin tips and recommendations, leave them in comments down below! 🙂

I know that not everyone has the same skin type, so keep that in mind during reading this post. Since summer I’ve decided I want to get rid of pimples. Yes, I watched thousands of ‘How I cleared my skin’ you tube videos and read even more articles about it. Most of them had same concept, cut down on dairy products and sweets, drink more water, wash your face… But, throwing out almost everything from my daily nutrition was something I was really debating on, because I wasn’t up for being hungry through out the whole day. In the end my desire for flawless skin was stronger, so I did it. Three weeks without sweets and one and half without dairy. Did I see results? Kind of. But, was it all worth it? Not really. I was starving half of the day and it was really hard for me to function. One time I felt dizzy and sick, almost fell on the floor, because I wasn’t eating enough. It was just too much stress for my body, so I decided to quit it. BUT not completely.

I cut out milk almost completely, but I started drinking more yogurt and eating other dairy products normally. I reduced sweets, but still I eat them once a week, less or more. Also, I make sure to eat some fruit everyday and drink more water. I noticed some difference. Now, I don’t always have flawless glowing skin, it varies. But, at least I enjoy in  food and feel more confident. As I mentioned, I don’t suffer from severe acne, because I know some people that cut off dairy completely and they skin glowed up. The best thing you should do is to talk to your dermatologist if you suffer from severe acne issue. These were some of my tips and myth breakers.

Skin care is also very important and again, I heard many people saying that specific products cleaned their skin completely. Personally, I didn’t find something that powerful, but I wish I did. Same as with the nutrition tips, I tried many different masks, homemade peelings, products… Burned my face couple of times, then realized I’m not human tester for all that crap (in a lack of better word sry) and started appreciating my lovely skin. Now, I found couple of products I love and made a routine. But, another important thing is that sometimes you should change your routine a bit because your can get used to certain products and it can become too much to handle.

Here are some of my faves, and I would love to see yours as well.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear cream wash

I’m not going to give you that basic speech about how you have to wash your face, because let’s be real, we all  know that. The face wash I really like is this Neutrogena one from their pink grapefruit collection. Also, this brand is really recommended when it comes to skincare, especially for acne treatments. I’ve only tried this product and since I love I would love to try out more. I like it because it’s soft and not too harsh, which makes it perfect for everyday use, because it won’t overdry your skin. It doesn’t contain those little granules, I know they are good for exfoliating, but for that I mix honey and sugar. Really easy and definitely more natural and better for your skin than some exfoliators. I do it every week and I find it beneficial. Honey is known for its antibacterial effects and sugar represents granules which help removing dead cells.

Ebelin face brush

I’ve always wanted one of those electric face brushes, but they are so expensive for me no matter what brand they are. So, when my friend told me I can find some face brushes at DM for around 2 euros, I had to check it out. I ended up buying this one and I didn’t regret. It’s not one of those cool electric ones, but it does amazing job as well. I used it every night with my face wash and I love it. The quality is very good, so the bristles are not harsh and they feel soft on the skin. That’s why I recommend it for all of you, no matter what skin type you have.  Also, I’ve had this for almost 6 months and they are all on its place, not even single one fell out. If you live in Europe and have DM drugstores, definitely check it out and buy it, you won’t regret it and your skin care routine will change for the better.

Since I don’t use any toners, because I don’t like putting a lot of products on my skin. I find it too much and unnecessary at all. So, I make sure to use max 3 different products on my skin.

L’Oreal Hydra Expert face moisturizer

I used to moisturize my face day and night, because my mum always tells me that’s very important step and that I HAVE  TO hydrate my skin. I used to do it until the certain period when I just gave up on it. My theory was that moisturizer makes your skin even oilier and causes even more breakouts. That’s when I tried using only natural oil and I already wrote about that experience. Now, I’m back with the moisturizer, but I only use it in the evening before going to sleep and in very small quantities. My mum made me buy this L’Oreal one and I have to admit I’m very satisfied with it. It’s lightweight and soaks into the skin really fast which I’m a fan of, because I hate when I have to wait 5 hours for certain product to soak into the skin.

Shenemill face mask

Last summer, I got a PR package from Serbian company called Shenemill. When I saw this clay mask I was very excited to try it out, but also kinda nervous because it seems to be good for everything and I personally had bad experience with those type of products. Luckily, with this one was completely opposite. I use thin layer on my skin, keep it for around 15 minutes and then rinse it off. After that my skin looks so red, which I was shocked by the first time I tried it out, but it disappears after about half an hour and your skin looks great. The trick is not to use moisturizer after it, because if you do, your skin will look even worse. I don’t know if they ship international, I hope they do, because I highly suggest checking their website. All of their products are natural and paraben free.

* I run out of my mask and someone accidentally threw the packaging, so I wasn’t able to capture it. But, I leave you the link to their website, so you can check it out here.

Hydrocyclin spot treatment

This is what I used to treat my spots. Literally it costs less than 2 euros and I get it at a local pharmacy. It is an antibiotic in a cream form, so you have to use it in very small amounts and only on certain problematic areas. But, it shrinks my pimples and treats my scars, so as long as you use it properly and don’t too often your skin will be fine. Otherwise, it can damage your skin and cause even more problems.

Vichy Aqua Thermal under eye cream

Another product I don’t use every day, even though a lot of people do, is under eye moisturizer. I’m still in my teenage years, so I don’t find it necessary to use under creams every night, but I love using this one from time to time. It’s in kinda gel form and it feels sooo refreshing. I use in the morning when I wake up with big under bags and overall when I feel and look tired. This wakes my app and gives me a bit more fresh looking face.

As for makeup removal I use Nivea baby wipes, I know, it sound crazy, but it works just as fine to me. Since they are meant for babies they are not harsh and my skin feels so soft after using them. I don’t really have some special advice when it comes to this portion of the post except the basic ones like make sure to remove all of your makeup properly. Another thing that most of us don’t pay attention to is to wash your hands before putting makeup on. I know this sounds so basic, but we’re all sometimes in hurry and we don’t pay attention on this small, but very important detail. Also, make sure to wash your brushes regularly.

And that’s basically it for this post. I hope you like it and I would love to hear your skin story! I know that these posts can get little boring, because everyone has different skin, so this post seem useless. I personally think that it’s good to hear other stories and discuss, maybe you find some good advice that works for you, you never know.

Again, thank you for taking time to read this post and I see you in the next one (which will hopefully be soon)! 🙂

  1. Diet will not help. Actually acne is a problem of the skin. It is a problem of the dead skin cells not turning over correctly. They do shed correctly and in acne prone areas they block the hair follicle and then bacteria gets trapped and then you have a pimple. In dry areas it can cause “bumpy” skin. Check out acne.org. Very helpful site.

    • I know, even though it took me a some time to realize that. But believe it or not, I’ve seen positive results when I cut off milk, because apparently cows leak hormones, which causes skin to break out. Thanks for the website, I’ll definitely check it out! 🙂

  2. That under eye cream looks amazing! I definitely notice a difference in my skin without dairy and sugar, BUT, nixing all sugar is super hard for me, so it’s all about balance. I think having a solid balance between good diet and good products is key!

    • I totally agree. It”s really hard for me too to cut out sugar completely and that’s why I eat more fruit now or jam instead of chocolate. As you said it’s all about good balance! 🙂

    • I’m planing to try out more natural and organic products, but in my country you can’t find a lot of them or they’re too expensive. 😦 Anyways, thank you for stopping by. 🙂
