Friday chit-chat: Cannes 2k18

After all that glam and sparkles we saw at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual 70th Met Gala, we are hit with even more fashion jazz at the Cannes Film Festival. Along with movie premiers and awards are of course, red carpet gowns and fun&flirty after party looks. And as we all know lot of things can happen at the after parties. Some get bitten, some get too high or drunk which is not a big deal in Holywood, but there are always lovebirds who share their love or in this case exes that still not over each other (hint: abella). But, this post won’t be about the saucy stories, okay I’ll mention maybe one, but we have to recap all the looks and diamonds. So, get ready for a chit chat, because I wanna hear everything! Let me know what are your faves and fails. 🙂

As for Met Gala, I have to admit I don’t really like the theme itself, so I chose to write about Cannes Film Festival. But, I have to admit I was thrilled with Gigi’s Versace dress as well as Kendall Jenner and Virgil Abloh’s off-white outfits. And his ‘For red carpet only’ Jordans knocked me down. I was amazed by his creativity and how a simple&basic white can be more glamorous than a thousand sparkles. His sneakers nailed the Met Gala.

But, let’s move to the main subject of this post: Cannes.  I didn’t have that much time to follow every single detail and I don’t know what movie got awarded, but from fashion aspect I made sure to check every single look. I was stunned by a lot of people I don’t even know who are and sadly, disappointed by some that are ‘fashion icons’ apparently. Don’t get me wrong, this post is not hate and I’m not trying to insult anyone. But, I do have a right to share my own thoughts and what I like and don’t. Like on every event, there are dopes and nopes, so I guess it’s normal not to like everyone’s look.

I’m going to start off with my faves and since I don’t want to make this post too long, here are the pics with the shortest comments possible (my short is not other people’s short, so good luck). 🙂

Let’s start with the black and basic. ‘Black is always a good idea’, and there’s a reason for it. It looks elegant, sophisticated and glamorous. You can it shiny and effective or keep it simple and make it pop by adding some good jewelry. And here is an example for everything.

Barbara Palvin with cut out detailed dress showing how powerful it can look, Alessandra Ambrosio in see through, bit more provocative and hot black dress. Doutzen shows that you can slay red carpet in black sleek suit and that dress is not a must. Keeping up with the simplicity, my favorite French girl Clémence Poésy in chic and elegant black dress. So simple, yet so beautiful. And for the last dress, all I can say is fun&flirty. There you have it: the power of black.

But, not everything is so black. There’s always a white side. So, here are the ladies who slayed wearing white!

I can not describe you how much I’m in love with this dress. But, literally, it’s soooo perfect. The model itself and all those boho vibes details…I’m speechless. I’m huge fan of boho vibes and I love how this dress is both, glamorous&boho at the same time.

I really don’t know how I feel about this dress… I definitely don’t love it, but it’s not that I don’t like it either. I find it interesting, because it’s not what you usually see at the events. I like that it’s two piece and the skirt is such an interesting item to style. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

Another dress that I’m absolutely in love with! And it’s because of details, of course. This one is a bit more elegant comparing to the first one, but still it’s gorges and I would definitely wear something like this, if I had the chance to do so.

Along with black&white, nudes and baby pinks also became, well some sort of a classic. Those shades are so popular, they are literally e v e r y w h e r e. From makeup to home decor, clothes, shoes, phone cases, even jewelry can be found in some sort of pink or nude. I have to admit, I’m fan of these colors too, but definitely not obsessed. Although, when it comes to these dresses…

This is not that special, but still I find it very chic and pretty. You can never go wrong with something like this. Maybe it’s not the most interesting and innovative look of Cannes 2k18, but it’s pretty and elegant.

Sara Sampaio is one of my fave VS angles. Maybe she’s not wearing wings rn, but still, she looks like an angel. This is also one of my personal faves, and not just because Sara is wearing it. 🙂 I love the color, model and this rose gold crochet detailing. As you can notice, I love simple dresses with subtle details.

Now, I think it’s time to bring in some vibrant colors!

Turquoise was very popular among ladies this year and I can totally understand why. It’s one of my fave colors to wear, because it’s different and it suits everyone. I think that everybody, no matter how old, pale or dark, tall or small you are, you’ll slay wearing this color. 🙂

I’m absolutely in love with Lais and this look! Honestly, this is one of my top and I don’t even have to explain it why, just look at the photo. You’ll thank me later.

Moving on with another dope look, Sara Sampaio reminds us that royal blue with sheer shine is the best way to make a stamp.

This is the most interesting dress in my opinion. Love how the top is simple and then, bum, color explosion down. I would love to wear something like this maybe on some kind of event, b-day party or even on everyday bases.

Bella Hadid

My girl deserves special category! ❤ I can not describe how much I love Bella, her style, her beauty…everything. I was so happy to see her and Abel back together, because they are my life. Goals.

But, apart from that, Bella really slayed Cannes this year and I’m love with some of her looks, but I have to admit it, even though it’s really hard for me to do so, she had some flops. 😦

So simple and so cute. She literally slays in the most simple outfits possible. I’m just gonna say, Bella Hadid everyone.

Classy.

Now, this is when she really shines out. Wearing kinda provocative red Dior dress. Sheer, but not see through. 🙂

I saved the best for the last. The iconic look of Cannes 2k18 (at least for me). Pale pink and a lot of diamonds, because diamonds are girl’s best friend. 🙂

You made it to the end. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I would love to hear your thoughts and faves as well. Also, I don’t know if you noticed, but I made a little change and decided to chit-chat with you on Fridays instead of Sundays. It just feels more casual to me and wanted to switch it up a bit.

What would you like to chat about? Let me know! 🙂

  1. Love, love, LOVE all your commentary on this and the fact that you don’t feel the need to praise somebody as a ‘fashion icon’ just because others do! And did you notice that Sara Sampaio in the royal blue pleat moment looks a bit like Anna Chlumsky all grown up from ‘My Girl’? Totally crazy.
